Oz.
Project Type : Independent Work - 2021
Oz is a circular jewelry stand for everyday display in the home.
My objective was to design a functional volume that would preserve a fluid relationship between user, content and environment in the different states of use.
Existing between function and sculpture, Oz interacts with the user on a daily basis. Therefore, it is essential to retain a sculptural expression to be unobstructed with the intimate surroundings.
The lightweight concrete object, sturdy and rough, showcases contrast to the sleekness of the jewelry .
The earthy tones material palette aims to adapt to a variety of environments; natural concrete gray, Terra Cotta, beige and eucalyptus green.
While ideating, it was essential to establish the volume would comprise an elevated surface for suspension and a flat one for laid items. Sinuous shapes were explored for elegance and warmth to match the home environment.

Ribbed ends to create hook for suspended items.
Interrupted circle for insert access with rectangular profile for stability.
Pit to house smaller items and the base of long ones,
offering accessibility and visibility while preserving a neat façade.
